FrieslandCampina Kievit introduces segregated sustainable palm oil ingredients
As part of its strategy to do business in a responsible and sustainable way and to meet growing customer demand for more sustainable food ingredients, FrieslandCampina Kievit is upgrading its Vana®-Monte portfolio to ‘RSPO SG’ – using palm oil that is segregated (SG) and certified as sustainable by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
Doing business in a responsible and sustainable way is at the core of Kievit’s strategy, and the company has thus committed to ensuring products in the Vana-Monte, Vana-Crema, Vana-Grasa and Vana-Sponge ranges move to using RSPO SG palm. Introducing RSPO SG as the standard in the Vana-Monte is the latest achievement addressing the growing customer demand for more sustainable food ingredients, and of is adding value for manufacturers of baked goods, savoury and (frozen) desserts products.
RSPO SG means that palm oil is purchased from RSPO-licensed suppliers and is separated from non-certified plantations across the whole supply chain. This allows end product manufacturers to claim that the product contains RSPO certified sustainable palm oil.
FrieslandCampina Kievit believes in responsible and sustainable solutions and aims to position itself in the market as the frontrunner in sustainable palm oil (RSPO SG) for its baked goods & savoury & (frozen) desserts portfolios in response to consumer interest in social responsibility and sustainability, and growing demand for transparent labels. The company is an early member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, a (growing) not-for-profit organisation that unites stakeholders from the seven sectors of the palm oil industry to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil.
The upgrade to sustainable SG palm oil will not affect the functionality of the raw materials in Vana-Monte ingredients. We provide ingredients with a more transparent origin.
